The BSWSA volunteered with Friends of Forest Hill Park, a group of volunteers whose goal is to help Forest Hill Park thrive. The group's mission is to preserve Forest Hill Park with special attention towards the historic buildings and trails, the natural plant life and fauna, the local watershed, and the public use of the grounds and facilities. The BSWSA split into two groups, with one group helping the start of a pollinator garden in front of the Brick House, and the other group tearing down an invasive species of poison ivy.

Participation in this event was not only fun and engaging to our members, but it also allowed our members to experience helping the greater Richmond community! This is directly related to the BS
WSA’s mission to work with the community as well as NASW’s core competency number 6, which encourages community involvement. The BSWSA was so thankful for this opportunity to help Forest Hill Park and looks forward to future involvement with the group!
